A Once in a Generation Owl Event

Twenty years ago on and around this date, the Montreal area was inundated (I can’t think of a better word) by so many Great Gray Owls coming down from the north. They seemed to be everywhere - genuinely, this was a “once in a lifetime” event. A friend flew up from the US and we stood in a snowy field on Ile Bizard with half a dozen owls - I don’t exaggerate - sitting in the trees around us.

Just a shame that digital cameras back then were not as good as today, these were taken with a 3.5MP camera which was something special in those days 🙂 … anyway, not something I will ever forget:
