2008 - Canada Begins Largest Ever Marine Protected Area in the Beaufort Sea, a vast marine protected area in the Beaufort Sea to protect species like Balaena mysticetus (Bowhead whale) and Somateria mollissima (Common eider).
Hurrah for Canada and its effort to protect the cetaceans. I hope they can find a way to effectively enforce it- the Beaufort Sea is a large body of water!
